Memorize at least the last 20 Surahs of the Quran

There are many excuses that we have when it comes to memorizing the Quran. For older people it is usually something revolving around their children and for others, there is some sort of set conditions that they have placed on themselves such as learning tajweed first or doing some other thing first that always pushes them further away from achieving this blessed goal. It is true that learning to recite and learning tajweed are very important but these are the things that should be done alongside memorization not become hindrances. There are 114 surahs in the Quran and many of them are quite large. For those that memorize them it takes them years at a time. For those that do not have such time to dedicate, it is advised to them to at least memorize the last 20 surahs of the Quran. These surahs are comparatively small and can be easily memorized during everyday life.

There are many reasons that you should really start memorizing the Quran like right now, today. Here are some of them.

An Enormous Award for you
Allah (SWT), the Most High, says in His Glorious book,

Verily, those who recite the Book of Allah, and perform As-Salat, and spend (in charity) out of what We have provided for them, secretly and openly, hope for a (sure) trade-gain that will never perish.
(Quran Surah Fatir Ayah 35:29)

Life can End Anytime
Abdullah ibn Umar (RA) said it best when he said, “If you survive till the evening, do not expect to be alive in the morning, and if you survive till the morning, do not expect to be alive in the evening, and take from your health for your sickness, and (take) from your life for your death.”[Al-Bukhari]

It’s Easier than you Think
Allah (SWT), the Most High, says in His Glorious book,

And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?
(Quran Surah Fatir Ayah 35:29)

It is true that memorization of the Quran can be difficult for some people especially for people who have never spoken Arabic or learned it. But this can be a motivation for such people because Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said, “The likeness of the one who reads it and tries hard to memorize it even though it is difficult for him, he will have a double reward”. [Al-Bukhari]

The Best of People
The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, “The best amongst you is the one who learns the Qur’an and teaches it”[Al-Bukhari].

Ibn ‘Amr reported that the Prophet  said, “There is no cause to be envious except in two cases: (the first is of a) person whom Allah has taught the Quran, and he recites it in the day and night, and one of his neighbors hears him and says, ‘Woe to me! I wish I had been given what he has been given, then I would do what he is doing! (The second is of a) person whom Allah has blessed with wealth, and he spends it in good causes, so a person (who sees him) says, ‘Woe to me! I wish I had been given what he has been given, then I would do what he is doing!”[Al-Bukhari]
