Make Dua in the Month of Ramadan

The best month of the year is upon us folks and it is best that we make most of this opportunity because there is no guarantee that we will be around until the next one. For all of those reading this during the blessed month, let us all take a moment to thank Allah (SWT) for giving us another Ramadan in which we can seek and earn His blessings. Now as we all know, one of the best acts we can do is to make dua (supplication) to Allah (SWT). There is no doubt that we need to be making constant dua to Allah (SWT) for all our needs and ask Only Him for what we need and His help. Supplications in the month of Ramadan are of great value as a matter of fact.

Let us give you a very good example of how Allah (SWT) has made dua a direct link between Him and us.

Allah (SWT) mentions some of the questions that the disbelieving people had of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in the Quran. Allah (SWT) says,

When they asked Prophet Muhammad (SAW) about the hour (Day of Judgment), Allah (SWT) revealed the verse:

“They ask you, [O Muhammad], about the Hour: when is its arrival? Say, ‘Its knowledge is only with my Lord.’” (Quran Surah Al-A’raf  Ayah 187)

When they asked about the Mountains, Allah (SWT) revealed the verse:

“And they ask you about the mountains, so say, ‘My Lord will blow them away with a blast.’” (Quran Surah Ta’ha Ayah 105)

When they asked about the story of Dhul Qarnayn, Allah (SWT) revealed:

“And they ask you, [O Muhammad], about Dhul-Qarnayn. Say, ‘I will recite to you about him a report.’” (Quran Surah Kahf Ayah 83)

These are some of the answers that Allah (SWT) revealed in the Quran for the questions of the unbelievers. But notice how before every answer is the word ‘Say’. This word is commanded to Prophet Muhammad (SAW) by Allah (SWT) before the answer is give. Allah (SWT) says in the Quran,

“And when My servants ask you, [O Muhammad], concerning Me – indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me.”(Quran Surah Baqarah Ayah 186)

Notice how He does not use the word ‘Say’ this time and just gives the answer which shows that the believer has a direct link with Him when they call upon Him. One thing to also note is that this Ayah of the Quran directly follows some ayahs related to the month of Ramadan. Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said,

“The supplications of three persons are never turned away: a just ruler, a fasting person until he breaks his fast, and the supplication of an oppressed person which is raised by Allah to the clouds on the Day of Resurrection, and the gates of heaven are opened for it and Allah says: By my might, I will help you even if it is after a while” (Sunan Ibn Majah No. 1624).

Please keep the Ummah in your prayers this Ramadan, especially those Muslims that are in dire hardships across the world.
