Be a Good Role Model for Kids
There is very unique challenge that is face by teachers around the world. Not only do they need to instill the knowledge of a rather complicated curriculum of studies within the children, but they also need to be on the lookout for children who are having a difficult time catching up or keeping up with the rest of the kids. Special attention needs to be given to these kids because it is apparent that if they are not keeping up with the others in their class or group, that basically means they are not understanding or getting, frankly what they need to progress. The main answer to this rather common problem is Parents. Here are some methodologies from the Sunnah that should be implemented by the Parents if they want to promote better learning for their kids.
The best way to have your children develop a desire for knowledge is to be a good example for them and show them that gaining knowledge does not end with educational institutes; rather it is a lifelong process. This can be done in a number of ways such as by joining online Quran Schools for Islamic courses that explain the Quran and the history of Islam. By being a good example of a learning person for kids, they will begin to develop an interest in learning themselves and will be more committed to doing so when they see their parents also constantly learning. One of the famous Duas of the Quran is, “Say: My Lord, increase me in knowledge.” (Surah TaHa 20:114) and a very famous Hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) that encourages one to seek knowledge states, “Whoever travels a path in search of knowledge, Allah makes easy for him a path to Paradise.” (Sahih Muslim 2699)
Reflect on Life Experiences and You Will Learn
Whatever we go through life is a learning experience no matter how you look at it. The worst moments of life to the best moments in life are all opportunities to learn and understand but for only those that reflect on their actions. What we go through life alters our brains and understanding of the world. Of course it goes without saying that involving children with the negative points in our lives is never a good thing as it can also alter their own understanding of how life works. Rather by involving kids with positive aspects of our lives gives them a wider and greater incentive to learn through the information provided to them through our experiences. One of the most important aspects to understand for the parent is that children, teens especially usually do not understand or listen to everything what parents have to say but they do see and observe everything parents do. As far as younger children are concerned, their whole world revolves around their parents which is good for that is the best time to instill in them good learning values based a positive outlook of life and by following the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
